We drove thru from Seward to Soldonta to Homer. On the way we had our hitch bust off the bolts from the frame. We were on a part of the road that was under construction and one way of travel so there wasn't a place to pull over but when we got stopped we realized ho blessed we were that we didn't loose the car or it didn't resend us when we stopped. We drove to a couple of places to see about welding it or getting a part but nobody wanted to do it and recommended UHaul in Soldonta. They installed a new one for us and we were on the road again. We got into Homer and it is most beautiful. There is a deep sea oil platform, they have many sea planes that we are going to take out to Katmai National Park, Brooks Camp to watch the bears during the Salmon run on Monday. In Homer there are ferries, planes and boats to do whatever you'd like, fishing, bear watching, sea kayaking, Atv'ing, bald eagle watching...we have seen quite a few eagles but never when we have a camera, I will get some soon. All along the road there are millions of wild lupines, they are abundant and so beautiful. A lot of homes have car or boat junk yards around their property, it's quite different. I went to take pictures of one of the boat junk yards and I'm pretty sure people were living on one of the ships...but I wasn't the only one taking pictures so I wonder how often that happens? Maybe they should put out a photo stand and make a few bucks! LOL it has been raining on us for 2 days, oh if only we could send the rain home! We were saddened to hear of Dyan Redwine being found dead. My heart aches for his Mom. Prayers and hugs to all!

Homer. This is the one I am sure people are living in. There was a stained glass window hanging in one of the windows and plants inside, I wonder if it is just a summer home as it looks alittle drafty.

Here's the Russian Orthodox Church in Kenai. Built in 1794. Quite interesting.
This was on a corner along the highway, we saw the totem pole and wanted to get a photo and then saw all the other stuff. This guy was a hoot and personality was fantastic. A young man with 5 kids. He said he's thought about bringing his kids down in torn clothes for when people try to Jew him down in price and then his kids would have a script of " please by a bear from my daddy, sir, we are hungry, the winters are long and cold..." He really is good at his wood carvings.
