Seward cruise 6/29/2013

What a day! We left the harbor at 11:30 am and what a vision of beauty and awe! We are so very blessed to have this beautiful land of freedom and beauty! We started off by seeing hump back whales, then glaciers and puffins, then more glaciers and sea lions, then we had lunch of prime rib, salmon salad and brownies and cheese cake, then dolphins, sea lions, puffins, bald eagles and another whale. I so wish all of you could have been there with us! These pictures aren't the best but the best I could do...hugs to you!!

Seavey Dog Sleding! Seward, AK 6/28/2013

One of my bucket list dreams has now come true!! I rode the dog sleds in Seward, AK with the Seavey Family. I'm going to post a video of the dogs in their houses as we are getting them hooked up to the sleds. It was amazing. You couldn't SEE dog poo anywhere, but the smell was quite alluring...LOL
We held 15 day old puppies, learned a out the clothes they wear, how they train the dogs and then away we went, about a 30 minute ride. We leave for a 6 hour dinner cruise tomorrow to whale watch and see the glaciers.

Girdwood Bakery And Portage Glacier National Park.

Friday.Today is June 28, 2013. Craig and I got back to Anchorage from St. George and his Family responsibilities. His Mom Illa is doing well. All the siblings are strong and all is well, tho we will always feel someone is missing...
We drove to Girdwood Bakery, as suggested by friends, and bought $35.00 worth of Yummy pastries. The owner is from Russia, he has been at this bakery for 25 years. He was very kind and generous. His son and daughter work there with him.
W then drove to a camp ground in Portage National Park. We drove thru a tunnel, Whittier Tunnel. It is 2 1/2 miles of solid rock. It is like they took a drill and drilled a circle right down the middle and placed a few lights along the way. The train also goes thru it. It is a ONE WAY, skinny tunnel. You go in to the town Whittier one the half hour and you come back from the town on the hour. They close it down at 11 pm each night. Wittier is a beautiful little harbor, deep sea, never freezes harbor. They have cruises that go out to the glaciers but you can see the glaciers along the road. Some of these glacier pictures are from our camp ground as we cooked breakfast!
We went to a visitors center and there are some pictures from there. Many Asians were on a tour bus at this center, they were fascinated with the moose "call" they had on display.
We are now on our way to Seward. There the ONE thing I want to do is ride the dog sleds on an iceberg! I can't wait!
