7/15/13 Monday trip to Skagway for the train and Wade Brown!

Today we got up in Whitehorse, left to drive the 110 miles to Skagway to ride the White Pass &  Yukon  Route Scenic Train. Wade Brown, our local Durango hero, friend and eligible bachelor, is the conductor on this wonderful train. He met us at a little depot named Frazer and told us we would have more time in Skagway if we would finish the drive to Skagway and then ride the train round trip with him from there. So we left and drove to Skagway, had lunch at The Red Onion. The food was great, but it was an old brothel and had a few original paintings and dressings still displayed. We didn't notice it until we sat down and ordered and had only 30 minutes to eat and get on the train...anyway, my Dad and Craig kept having to look at mom and I AlOt! LOL...
The Conductor, Wade Brown, was a handsome, dashing, friendly face to see.  with a hug and a hello, we boarded the train. His crew were delightful, fun and informative. We had such a very wonderful day! The scenery on the drive on the road and the train were breathtaking! We head to take a ferry again, on Wednesday to Juneau, the Fjord Express, the Inside Passage.
Alaska is GREAT!

This is the cute street cars I town.

Here are some of the interesting artifacts displayed at the Red Onion.
